In thirty seconds
The plain version
- A Plan of Action (POA) is the document Amazon uses to decide whether to restore selling privileges — it is judged as an operational document, not an apology.
- Amazon requires three elements in every POA: a specific root cause, corrective steps already completed (not promised), and a prevention framework for the future.
- A suspension freezes funds for up to 90 days and tracks your account against an Account Health Rating scored 0–1,000 — Healthy (200–1,000), At Risk (100–199), Unhealthy (0–99, eligible for deactivation).
- Each rejected appeal makes the next one harder — Amazon's review teams see the full appeal history, so one carefully built submission beats several rushed ones.
What it actually requires
Three parts, in a specific order, with no padding.
- Root cause — specific and operational, not defensive. "We don't know what caused this" is read as a non-answer; "FBA inventory from an unverified supplier entered the shipment because our pre-listing checklist had no supplier-verification step for that category" is the standard Amazon is actually asking for.
- Corrective action already taken — completed steps, described in the past tense, not a plan for next week. Documentation that supports the claim (invoices, supplier records, screenshots of the process change) carries more weight than the narrative alone.
- Prevention framework — the systemic change that stops recurrence, not a one-off fix to the single flagged ASIN.
- Supporting evidence — for authenticity and supply-chain matters specifically, invoices from an authorised distributor with a clear, traceable chain of custody are what separates a successful first appeal from an escalation.
Format matters more than most sellers expect: scannable, specific, under a page where possible, with bullet points rather than long paragraphs — reviewers are moving fast, and a appeal that makes them hunt for the point gets rejected for it.
Who enforces it
Amazon Seller Performance, with escalation routes through Brand Registry and Account Health support
This is a private platform policy, not a statute — there is no regulator, court, or published case law to appeal to in the ordinary course. Amazon's own internal review teams make the call, working from your account's full appeal history and the specific policy clause cited in the suspension notice.
What it costs to get wrong
The cost isn't a fine. It's the 90 days, and the rank you don't get back.
There's no monetary penalty in the regulatory sense — the consequence is operational and immediate: listings disabled, Buy Box removed, advertising stopped, and funds held for up to 90 days to cover potential refunds and chargebacks. With more than 9.7 million sellers on the platform and what practitioners consistently describe as increasingly AI-driven, automated enforcement, the trend through 2025 and into 2026 has been toward more documentation requirements and more video-verification requests — even for sellers who did nothing wrong.
What actually happens when it's missed
Generic or defensive first appeal — practitioner data consistently shows first appeals that name a specific, operational root cause succeed at a meaningfully higher rate than ones that don't; a rejected first appeal is visible to Amazon on every subsequent one.Amazon Sellers Lawyer & Sequence Commerce practitioner guidance, 2025–2026
Related-account suspension — triggered by shared IP address, device, or warehouse location, correctly or not; opening a new account in response is treated as a related-account violation in itself and typically gets the new account suspended too.estorefactory.com, "Amazon Account Suspension 2026," March 2026
Section 3 (Code of Conduct) escalation — the most severe category, covering fraud allegations and circumvention; recovery, where possible, routinely requires multiple documentation rounds and is the category most likely to end in a permanent ban if mishandled.Industry POA practitioner case data, 2025–2026
Where Ayin fits
Clear → Hold
The work is in the diagnosis, not the writing — naming the actual root cause Amazon's notice is pointing at, then assembling the supply-chain proof that backs it. Ayin will not promise an outcome; no honest party can. What we can promise is the strongest accurate appeal the facts support, built once, correctly.
